THE MOVEMENT AND ITS AIMS
Launched at the Marriott Hotel, Kuala Lumpur, on
the 8th September 2003, Malaysia Batik - Crafted
For the World is the vision and initiative of Datin
Paduka Seri Endon Mahmood, wife of the Prime Minister
of Malaysia. With her passion for local handicrafts
and traditions, Datin Paduka Seri has taken it upon
herself to revitalise pride in Malaysian crafts,
both locally and internationally.
Malaysia
Batik - Crafted For the World has been conceived
as Datin Paduka Seri's long-term vehicle in championing
the Batik industry.
With
this movement, Datin Paduka Seri's trademark brand
of enthusiasm and passion is brought to the Malaysian
batik industry in the hope of encouraging creativity,
showcasing and discovering talent and bringing Malaysian

to say that, since the launch, the response has
been most positive.
